The British pop girl group Atomic Kitten rewrote and released one of their most famous songs in the European Football Championship.
The original text sings about the English national coach Gareth Southgate, who led the squad to a European Championship final for the first time.
The British pop band Atomic Kitten has released one of their biggest hits on the occasion of the European Football Championship with a new text about the famous English national coach Gareth Southgate.
This led the team to an EM final for the first time on Wednesday. “Southgate You’re The One – Football’s Coming Home Again” is a 2000 single “Whole Again” remake. Atomic Kitten topped the charts in Great Britain and numerous other countries, including Germany.
“Southgate, you’re the one” has been sung by English football fans since 2018
England fans had repositioned the song during the 2018 World Cup and have since been singing it regularly at football games and public viewings. Instead of “Baby, you’re the one. You still turn me on, you can make me whole again”(Baby, you are the right one, you still turn me on, you can complete me again”) they now sing:”Southgate, you’re the one, you still turn me on. Football’s coming home again “(” Southgate, you’re the one, you’re still turning me on. Football is coming home”).
Atomic Kitten released the song before the European Championship semi-finals, in which England beat Denmark 2-1 after extra time. The trio had previously performed at a public viewing event in London.
“It’s been a rough couple of days,” the band wrote on their Facebook page, “but we’re very excited and grateful that we can contribute to this great energy and patriotism that fills the streets.”
