Elisabeth of Belgium shows up during training at the military academy.
The eldest daughter of King Philippe (61) and Queen Mathilde of Belgium (48) is finishing her first year at the Royal Military Academy in Arlon. She is going through the final training phase of this training phase in the Lagland camp.
Photos on the occasion of a press conference show Crown Princess Elisabeth (19) in a camouflage suit and with a blue military beret during sporting exercises in the field, on an army truck, marching and having breakfast in an army tent. She also addressed a few words to the journalists.
The 19-year-old joined the academy last September. And will also take part in the parade on July 21, Belgium’s national day. The Belgian daily “Le Soir” reports will be her last year of military training. King Philippe spent three years at the prestigious establishment between 1978 and 1981.
When it became known that Crown Princess Elisabeth was coming to the military academy, a student from the training school gave an insight. According to the Daily Mail, Evelyn Gravez (22) revealed that the princess would learn in the first few weeks to fire a rifle, set up an army tent, march with a backpack, and read maps. There will also be tactical training.
She also said the training was “pretty tough,” but added that the camp is nothing like the stereotypes of a military school seen in Hollywood films: “They don’t yell at you when you make mistakes. Of course, sometimes they have to be strict, because mistakes have to be fixed as quickly as possible. But if you learn a little slowly, they are there to encourage you, not to bark at you, “says Gravez.
